In 1960, about 8 million children lived in fatherless homes. Today, that number exceeds 24 million. 22% of all America’s children come from fatherless homes. Here are the results:

• 90% of all homeless and runaway children are from fatherless homes;
• 85% of all youths sitting in prisons grew up in a fatherless home;
• 63% of youth suicides are of juveniles lacking a father;
• 70% of juveniles in state-operated institutions come from fatherless homes;
• 85% of all children that exhibit behavioral disorders come from fatherless homes;
• 80% of rapists motivated with displaced anger come from fatherless homes;
• 71% of all high school dropouts come from fatherless homes;
• 75% of all adolescent patients in chemical abuse centers are fatherless;
• higher rate of teenage pregnancy among daughters of single parents.

Father’s Heart Men’s Breakfast celebrates fatherhood, honors the Father of the Year, and inspires men to embrace our fatherless children. Our theme A New Day asks fathers who feel that they have failed to leave behind their failures and look toward positive future involvement in the lives of their children. A New Day also represents a new opportunity for fathers who have been successful at fathering to increase their sphere of influence from children in their homes to embracing at-risk children in their communities. Join men who care about our children, our families, and our nation.
